Who Am I
Attorney Shayla Richberg
INNOVATIVE, STRONG WILLED, DETAILED, FOCUSED
I, am a strong willed advocate that is motivated to working alongside my clients to be a voice to help break down barriers to achieve desired results.
I, am a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and am presently a proud resident of Durham, North Carolina. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (“UNC”), where I double majored in Management and Society & Sociology. I received numerous accolades from UNC, including but not limited to, being a recipient of the dean’s list, minority academic achievement award, and served as an Associate Justice for the Student Supreme Court.
After receiving my Bachelors degree, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, in Leavenworth, Kansas where I worked as a Service-Learning Coordinator for the University of Saint Mary. I worked with various profit and non-profit organizations to eradicate poverty, on both the local and national level, by focusing on building sustainable partnerships between the Academic and Greater Kansas City Community.
I received my Jurist Doctor from North Carolina Central University (“NCCU”), where I graduated at the top of my class. I continued my mission of serving low income communities by working with North Carolina Legal Aid, the Civil Litigation Clinic, and Foreclosure Defense Clinic while in Law School. NCCU has one of the top clinical programs in the nation and I was proud to serve my community under such esteemed legal advisors. I received the North Carolina Bar Pro Bono Certificate, where I served approximately 500 hours during the course of my law school career. Recently, I received the NAACP Humanitarian of the Year Award.
After Law School I worked in private practice focusing primarily in Criminal Law and Personal Injury. As the present managing partner of RichbergLaw I am confident that I will have more flexibility to focus on the areas that will best serve my community.
Additionally, I am in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar and a member of the Eastern, Middle, and Western Federal Districts of North Carolina.
